Meet our pastor, Lee Edwards, and his wife, Karen.
Karen is an “Army Brat” who was born in Frankfurt Germany and Lee is a native Floridian. Their roots are truly Southern, as this is the region of their childhood, but they have made Bozrah home for the past twelve years.
Lee and Karen met while Lee was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. They both earned undergraduate degrees from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, and Karen went on to earn her Master of Education degree at Auburn. Lee and Karen married in 1977 while still students at Auburn. One year later, they moved to Fort Worth, Texas where Lee earned his Masters of Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Following graduation, they served at churches in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama before the Holy Spirit led them to Bozrah Center Congregational Church in Bozrah, Connecticut.
Lee, Karen, and their two sons, Philip and Michael, have been our Pastoral Family since 2003, and they are excited to see what God is going to continue doing at Bozrah Church. Their focus of ministry is to provide a place where the whole family is included in worship, nurtured in growth, and unconditionally loved. They are actively involved in all areas of ministry at the church, and believe every age group should be involved in the ministry and mission of the church.
Many people have influenced their approach to ministry. They live by principles learned at Auburn in their Navigator Campus Group: “…To know Christ and make Him known.” They have been molded by serving with some of the most spiritual men and women possible. They live by the great lessons of faith learned from Karen’s parents, Tom and Pug Fluker, and have grown by the unconditional love and support of their amazing church family at Bozrah Church.
Come meet our Pastoral Family. They are always welcoming and available. Join them for a cup of coffee, a bottle of Coke, or just for a fun conversation. They like to talk, and you will enjoy hearing their stories about the South, told with the Southern accent they retain after all these years. They especially love their Auburn Tigers, and you can expect to see them decked out in the school’s orange and blue colors. You will also hear “War Eagle” expressed frequently. They are also passionate about skiing, and have adopted Cannon Mountain and Bretton Woods as their destinations of choice. Most important, they are passionate about life, and blown away by the Love of God.
